TEXAS YOUTH HUNTING PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS TO BE PART OF A NATIONAL STUDY

Responsive Management, a Virginia-based research firm, has initiated a study under a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Multistate Conservation Grant to evaluate the effectiveness of national and statewide hunting, fishing, and shooting recruitment and
retention programs.  The study, which will start about the
first of March, will measure interest and participation in these
activities prior to involvement in recruitment and retention programs as
well as after participation in such programs.  The
research will identify the most effective programmatic elements and
provide insight into both the refinement of existing programs as well as
ways to inform the development of future programs.

As part of this study, Responsive Management is working with the Texas Wildlife Association and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to survey participants of the Texas Youth
Hunting Program.  For those participants willing to
participate in the study, researchers from Responsive Management will be
contacting participants before program events to conduct a short
telephone survey; a similar survey will be administered to the same
participants following their completion of program events.  If
called, the caller will identify him/herself as being with Responsive
Management.  If you prefer not to participate in
the study, inform Responsive Management that you not want to
participate.   This is your choice; however you
are encouraged to participate as the study is important to the future of
hunting and other outdoor activities.

Responsive Management is committed to maintaining the confidentiality and anonymity of its survey respondents, and guarantees their personal
information will not be sold or shared with any outside party.  Contact
identification is only used for statistical purposes and is available
in a form only identifiable to Responsive Management.   Responsive
Management guarantees that personnel will not access data or information
unrelated to project requirements or duties, will not disclose to any
other person, or allow any other person access to any information that
is proprietary or confidential.
